Alex also claimed silver medals in the 200 Back, 200 IM and 400 Free and finished off with a bronze in the 400 Free to complete a very successful 2010 Championships.

Newcastle's two other gold medals came from Haydn Adelburgh in the 100 Breast and Aaron Nash (10) in the 50 Back. Aaron also took the bronze medal in the 200 Back.
Competing in his first Staffs County Champs as a Newcastle swimmer Liam O'Mahoney (15) claimed four medals in all, with two silvers in the 100 Back and 200 back, plus bronze medals in the 50 Back and 200 Free. Sam Winton (15) picked up a silver medal in the 800 Free and a bronze medal in the 400 Free. Finishing off the medal sweep for the boys was Dave Henshall who picked up a fine bronze in the 50 Fly for the 17+ age category.
Rachael Kelly (16) was again in top form as she added to her impressive collection of medals from the first week by adding another four gold and one silver. Rachael claimed gold in the 100 Free, 100 IM, 100 Fly and 200 Fly, while also picking up silver in the 50 Free. In the 100 Fly Rachael's time of 1.01.62 set a new Staffordshire Senior Record, Junior Record and Age Group Record. Rachael's 100 Free time of 58.43 was also a new Staffordshire Ladies Junior Record!
Emily Shaw picked up another two gold medals in the 17+ age category, winning both the 100 Free and 100 IM awards. Emily also added the 50 Free silver meal to her collection.
Also adding pick up gold was Rebecca Twardochleb (11) who took first place in the 200 Fly. Rebecca then also added a silver in the 100 Fly and two bronze medals in the 50 Breast and 200 Breast. Newcastle's final gold medal for the girls came from Amy Colclough (12) who romped home to a very impressive victory in the 400 IM. Amy's March birthday means she started the Championships still as an 11 year-old, but she battled on with some terrific swims and really earned her gold medal in this punishing event.
Newcastle's medal haul for the girls was completed by Louise Edge (13) who picked up bronze medals in both the 50 Breast and 100 IM events, while Megan Ashley (13) took silver in the 50 Free and Daisy Mason (11) picked up a bronze medal, also in the 50 Free.
All in all, another successul championships for our club, with over 80 medals in all being won, as well as records claimed and Junior and Senior triophies won and new PBs set.
Well done to all of our swimmers for their splendid efforts.
